The Early Years - ‘All Ones And Zeroes’ (Beggars Banquet) 16/01/06

Tripping the light fantastic across a world of computerised psychedelic and endless effects pedals ‘All Ones And Zeroes’ refrains from smacking you in the face with instant appeal like so many of its contemporaries but instead lures you in gradually and before too long you are timing out it’s incessant, duelling beats with involuntary muscle spasms. Walls of spine tingling feedback course through at uneven intervals drowning out the understated wails from David Malkinson before a final minute of crushing drums career us through another tangent and to a close. Sometimes confusion makes sense, here it is turned somehow into incoherent brilliance.
