It’s the ! of their name that signals The Go! Team’s intent most clearly. They’re hear to spread summery vibes into the deep midwinter and with this re—record of a track from their Mercury nominated album they certainly do. ‘Ladyflash’ sounds like about five songs swirling around and fighting for your attention at once. There’s sweet horns, beats, a continually rumbling bass and front woman Ninja alternatively rapping and singing what sound like bits of old Motown and Stock/Aitkin/Waterman songs. Comparisons to Mint Royale and the Avalanches are obvious but it’s fantastic and the album’s title track, included as a Kevin Shields remix on the flip side, is just as ace too.
