They’ve already supported the likes of The Who, Whitesnake and Deep Purple, but it was important for The Answer to make an impact as the opening act for the UK leg of AC/DC’s ‘Black Ice’ world tour at the O2 Arena.
Having gained admiration for their previous European support slots on this tour, The Answer were ready to show the hungry UK crowd just what they’d learnt. With no signs of complacency in sight, they more then held their own against the giants of rock that followed.
Frontman Cormac moved in unison to his palpable hero - Robert Plant. His hands and body swagger mirroring the moves of the Led Zeppelin singer. His vocals soared through the grand settings of the monstrous arena, whilst guitarist Paul Mahon did more then enough talking with his Les Paul.
Equally impressive were the rhythm section who provided a strident and reassuring presence that reeked of professionalism as well as virtuosity.
Highlights included material from recently released album ‘Everyday Demons’ including the songs ‘Demon Eyes’ and ‘Walking Mat’ which stood comfortably alongside former singles such as opener ‘Come Follow Me’.
A powerful seven-song support set enabled the frothing mouths of the thousands in attendance, including Top Gear’s James May and Richard Hammond, to be fully hydrated before their rock Gods took to the stage.
