    To My Boy

Any notions of relaxation tonight that could easily be associated with the boho underground setting of London’s Ginglik, have been booted straight out the door as Kill All Drummer’s night gets underway. Showcasing bands with particular emphasis on the no drummers variety; the night has a dancing, electro, synth-based buzz to it.

Painting their own brand of DIY scratch and synf’ tunes onto an animated storyboard that unfolds in front of our eyes tonight are Tigerforce. As the local-based boy-girl duo shout out slogans from their colourful jigsaw puzzle of an album, ‘A Wasp In A Jar’ their lyrics sound like playful demands, especially "Burn down the office" from the infectious 'Syntax Error'.

Singers Helen Tiger, and Andy Force (hence the name), swap lyrics in a vocal relay race, bringing forth images of a naughties BIS remix, which incorporates punk-rock elements, and a little, M.I.A. The whole package- synth, beats, band and all, reminds you of a heavily pixelated video game that you just can’t stop playing.

During the headline set, a large blue light panel dances across the stage, aided by To My Boy’s lead-singer, Jack Snape. Igniting the already excitable crowd into a singsong dancing marathon, the focus of the Liverpool-based duo’s performance tonight is their newly released debut 'Messages'.

Sam White, taps out a furore of sounds from his synth to the left of the stage, before he and Jack, take their guitars and move to the centre in synchronisation. Recent single 'Model' and menacing technological anthem 'The Grid' bring the highlights of the night. However, no-one could anticipate the false start of 'I Am X-Ray', when Jack gets an electric shock from his mic. Demonstrating the showmanship of a figure-skater who’s taken a fall, the singer dusts himself down, as the band carry on regardless.

Bowing to the rowdy requests of the audience, the band perform an encore, with what To My Boy refer to as their only ‘ballad’, the reflective come pop-epic 'Fear Of Fragility'. Then it’s back to the DJs for some itchy-feet numbers.
