Opening tonight's show was The Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster, a 5 piece band who I'd not heard of before the show.Their set of rockabilly style punk infused with more traditional rock hard the crowd going, and had me making a mental note to find their CD and buy it.
Good stuff.
Headlining tonight, the Murderdolls - often compared to The Misfits and/or any number of 80's glam acts. But there is more to them than that. Singer Wednesday 13 can work the crowd like a pro - having you believe you are in Wembley stadium, not a university hall. When he asks, no tells the crowd to show him their horns, there isn't a hand not raised in salute.
Striding around the stage, Joey Jordison of Slipknot fame, gets the goth kids all weak at the knees.Great tracks from the 'Valley of the Murderdolls' album are played as well as new song 'The Devil Made Me Do It, And I'd Do It again', which fits in seamlessly with crowd favourites 'Grave Robbing USA' and 'Love at First Fright'.
During 'I Love To Say ****' Wednesday 13 illustrates the point with, of all things, an umbrella with the word "****" taped to it.
Finishing with an encore of hit single 'Dead in Hollywood'; we get exactly what we want from the Murderdolls, a lot of image, a lot of silliness and some great music.
