While the super-club concept collapsed, Fabric has stayed strong, thanks to a varied and excellent booking policy that includes live bands. Zongamin and Mylo, both represented on this CD, have brought the party to room one. The club has provided nights that will live in the memory, while the monthly CD series has maintained a high quality that certainly doesn't drop off, here.

In keeping with the melting-pot mentality of the club, Spank Rock have spread their net wide across genre and time. 'The Breaks', by Kurtis Blow gets it started, an appropriate choice from a time when hip-hop and disco/house was young and full of possibilities. Next comes the Spank Rock remix of CSS. The gentle phrase "Let's make love" is amusingly out of sync with Spank Rock's own potty-mouthed vocabulary. The next track gets things straight, with the MC chatting of "big dicks". It's the Justice mix of don't call him flash in the pan, Mr Oizo. Spank Rock are clearly feeling the French, with Daft Punk, Para One, Uffie, Miss Kittin and The Hacker also present.

The tune selection is great and we get the illegal crate-digging homage, 'Hustler' by Simian Mobile Disco..."Go to the record store, steal some records". The singer makes the record 'shopping' experience sound way more sexy than the geeky, High Fidelity reality.

Given the musical diversity, this album bumps along nicely. The song that best represents the atmosphere is probably Switch's 'A Bit Patchy', a hot producer remaking the classic, forever fresh 'Apache' by The Incredible Bongo Band.
