The legacy of Tupac Shakur is dying slowly. With each posthumous release we see his legendary status become more and more tarnished. The latest release from the ‘Shakur Estate’ hears ‘Pac’s vocals teamed up alongside those recorded by T.I., Ludacris, Ashanti, and Snoop Dogg.
Every new ‘Pac album that comes along these days fails to rekindle the unity that rap music’s number one icon naturally formed with his chosen production. Unfortunately for 'Pac’s Life', it falls under the same criticism umbrella. Joints like 'International' and 'Untouchable (Swizz Beatz Remix)' blend horribly with the late great MC’s ‘always ill’ words of wisdom. Even though the majority of the album seems more like a bad line from a movie than an Oscar-worthy script, there are at least two tracks that make this album worth listening to once. The first of the two is 'Dumpin’'. Featuring Hussein Fatal, Papoose and Carl Thomas, the chilling piano-ridden track hears one of the illest ‘afterlife’ ‘Pac verses to date laid down next to an amazing set of bars from Papoose. It’s also great to hear ex-Outlawz member Fatal and ‘Pac on the same track once again.
The other worthy track comes in the form of 'Soon As I Get Home'. Originally featuring on one of the early Makaveli bootleg CD’s, the track sounds as pure as a new ‘Pac record can possibly sound. Fans of 2Pac will forever continue to buy his new music, but on this occasion 'Pac’s Life' really doesn’t deserve the dedication.
