Many people have a fear of needles, associating them with injections, pain and having them stuck in your teenage arms at the least expected time. So calling your band The Needles might not be the wisest idea - however creating devastatingly brilliant, urgent and insistent tunes is and The Needles certainly go about this on their debut LP ‘In Search Of…..’

Opening with ‘Let You Down’ the sound of a malfunctioning computer is swept away by a new wave riff and a stampeding chorus is simple without being basic and catchy enough to make you want to listen again and again. The same can be said about many of the songs on this album; from ‘Devil At Your Door’ to ‘Girl I used To Know’ via ‘Out Of My System’ all clocking in at less than 3 minutes (A prerequisite for pop perfection) and packed with taught guitars and jack in a box choruses. The album highlight ‘Dead Or Alive’ comes on like Wolfmother mixed with a Coral esque mystical chorus and rumbling drums that combine to create a unique but instantly likeable sound. Previous singles ‘Diane’ and ‘Summer Girls’ make an appearance and sound as good as part of the family as they did on their own.

The Needles are not a hype band, they will never grace magazine covers or spear head the latest ‘scene’, they are beyond that and just produce fantastic indie pop songs. Whilst they lack a real spark that brings the listener in, repeated listens soon capture the ear and make you fully appreciate the rugged and grizzly brand of pop that The Needles plug

Loud, euphoric and steeped in classic songwriting, The Needles have a winning formula and we urge you to inject yourself with it right now (We can say that can’t we?).
