There is a place for all good music and ‘Growing Flowers by Candlelight,’ the debut album by Ainslie Henderson deservedly takes its position in a bed of roses amongst such intricate and fulfilling musical collections from artists such as ‘Damon Gough’, ‘Jack Johnson’ and ‘The Neil Campbell Collective’.
This EP is touchingly perceptive and throughout all 11 tracks offers companionship and respite to the weary human heart. The song writing is glowingly admirable with acquisition of great acoustics and harmony filled vocals, which in places gives grace to the tones of artiste ‘Beth Orton’ (especially track 4 ‘Daytrip’). This music is a definite must for the bedroom with tracks like ‘Dust’ participating pretty words, ‘the movement of your mouth, the study of your face; the lines around your body can’t help but trace in the quiet of the night,’ from which great comfort would be received whilst drifting off into a happier land of slumber.
This musical magic was produced by Hobotalk’s creative Marc Pilley, then recorded and released by ‘Amphibian Husbandry’ which is Henderson’s independent Edinburgh based label. Looking behind the man himself, Ainslie Henderson quite happily displays his human being amid a somewhat subtly alarming and intriguing photo gallery.
