V/A - 'Manumission Ibiza Classics Collection' (Warner) Released 10/07/06

It can be a bit depressing when music collections are described as ‘classic’ and those classics in question made up the soundtrack to your youth, because it has the potential to make you feel seriously past it. Fortunately the tracks featured on 'Manumission Ibiza Classics Collection’ are classics that manage to make you feel proud to have experienced the mashed up decade that was the nineties/noughties.

For those of you who did not manage to make it to Manumission or Ibiza, don’t worry, the tracks featured on this CD would have your Grandma tapping her foot due to their accessibility. ‘Classics’ like a remixed ‘Loaded’ from Primal Scream as well as the Mad’House mix of Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ all feature.

The tracks on this huge 3 CD collection are described as the ‘ultimate club tracks as all time’ and remixed and mashed up some of them are, Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’ has lost none of its sheen and will no doubt be around for centuries to come when our great-grandchildren and nodding their heads in virtual clubs. Likewise, Moloko’s ‘Sing It Back’ and Olive’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ all add to overall package of fine material. There are some fillers on these CD’s, but primarily tracks like Tori Amos’ ‘Professional Widow’, Inner City’s ‘Good Life’ and New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’ more then make up for the Axwell remix of Hard-Fi’s Hard To Beat’ (why???)

All in all this collection is really good value for money and will have reminiscing all summer long, go get it.
