Amy Macdonald — ‘Mr Rock & Roll’

Amy Macdonald — ‘Mr Rock & Roll’ Photo:
Teenage wunderkind Amy Macdonald— the Glaswegian gal’s been gigging since she was fifteen— repeatedly cites Travis as one of her biggest influences, and while hints of Healy haunt ‘Mr Rock & Roll’ (the second single off her forthcoming ‘This Is The Life’ LP), the track’ll undoubtedly evoke more comparisons to a fellow Scot from a bit further northeast: namely, K.T. Tunstall. That’s because ‘Mr’ is more ‘Roll’ than ‘Rock’, and more rollick than either, with Macdonald gustily, fearlessly lamenting “I wish I knew you before” over a breezy, acoustic jangle that’s cheerily chart-ready.

Released 16/07/07 on Vertigo Records
