Upcoming electronic star Flume has poked fun at One Direction fans after beating the boyband in the race to the top of the iTunes chart in Australia.

The 'Sleepless' producer hit No.1 in Australia with his self-titled debut album over the weekend - ahead of One Direction's new release, Take Me Home. The rising star celebrated with Facebook fans, posting screengrabs of his chart-topping success and poking fun at a One Direction fan who had hit out at Flume on her own Twitter page.

"We did it guys, we beat One Direction," wrote Flume on his Facebook page, before later sharing an update from a 1D fan furious at his chart-topping success, saying: "Muhaha best part about beating One Direction."

The producer covered the female fan's name in the post, to prevent her being contacted by his 50k fans on Facebook.

Flume is yet to release his album in the UK.

Check out Flume's celebratory, tongue-in-cheek Facebook post below:

However, One Direction may get the last laugh over Flume, as it appears their Take Me Home album is at both No.2 and No.4 in the Australian iTunes chart with the 'Yearbook Edition' at No.2 and the regular version at No.4. The combined sales of these are likely to see the boyband take the top spot.
