24 September, 2012: It may not be a typical live music venue, but last night, Manchester Cathedral played host to one of the biggest soul stars in the world, with Alicia Keys jetting in for a spectacular show on hallowed ground.
The star was performing a show for MTV Crashes Manchester. Keys showcased new material at the gig, but standouts from the show were classic Keys tunes including breakout hit 'Fallin' and Jay-Z collaboration (minus the Z) 'Empire State Of Mind'.
"Today I felt so calm, and paced, and right in the zone with the crowd," she told Press Association after the gig. "I haven't performed these songs a ton of times, like four shows so far or something, but I guess that's enough to start feeling confident and get the flow. I loved this show, and what a beautiful venue."
For those of us who weren't lucky enough to make it to Manchester Cathedral last night, Keys also performs at the iTunes on Friday, 28 September - or simply check out photos of the show right here.
