Damon Albarn joins the launch of the Africa Express

2 September, 2012: Yesterday in London, the Africa Express began its 2012 journey, leaving the capital to take a world of music to Middlesborough, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol before returning to London on Saturday 8th September for a performance at new venue Granary Sq in Kings Cross.

Joining the launch was Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who you can see (if you squint) in the photos here. The train takes musicians across the country to perform live shows, while the artists have space on the train to rehearse their performances. Damon Albarn, The Temper Trap, Rizzle Kicks, Afrikan Boy and Baaba Maal are among the artists joining the journey.

SEPTEMBER
3 - Town Hall - Middlesbrough
4 - The Arches - Glasgow
5 - The Ritz - Manchester
6 - Solus (Cardiff University) - Cardiff
7 - The Big Top @ Creative Common - Bristol
