Cher Lloyd fled the stage at V Festival in tears after attendees hurled bottles at the star during her performance on Sunday.

The X Factor star, who released debut single 'Swagger Jagger' last year, was performing on The Arena Stage at Hylands Park, Essex when she was reportedly met by booing and bottles being thrown onto the stage.

Witnesses reporting from V Festival on Twitter have also claimed that the bottles were filled with urine. It is claimed that Cher didn't get through her first song before fleeing the stage in tears.

According to the Daily Mail, Cher told her audience: "'It's hard enough being up here, but it's not nice having bottles of p*ss chucked at you."

Tweeting after the show, Lloyd said: Thank you so much for all the nice messages, shame that a couple of people had to ruin it, unfortunately a glass bottle got thrown at me on stage.Tomorrow is another day,big love to my brats!!! Xxx

Cher performed at V Festival's Stafford leg yesterday (Aug 18) without incident.

90,000 fans have packed into the two sites at Stafford and Chelmsford this weekend to see the likes of The Killers, The Stone Roses and Noel Gallagher.

However, the festival has been beset with problems with one man being beaten to death near the Chelmsford event and another man being found dead in his tent in Staffordshire.

Nicki Minaj cancelled her performance at the show due to voice problems and was replaced by LMFAO.
