The Mercury Music Prize is one of the UK's biggest music events of every year, honouring the greatest records of the past 12 months.

This year has seen some amazing albums released, and we're pleased to see some Gigwise favourites make the list. We're not going to tell you which ones of course - we don't want to look like we're biased in anyway (but if Kindness picked up a nomination, we wouldn't grumble).

Nominations are yet to be revealed, but bookies are already taking bets on who is likely to pick up a nod when they are announced on 12 September - with the awards show taking place on 1 November.
