  • Adam Lambert: "There's no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That's impossible. The way I'm choosing to view it is that it's a great honour and one I'm in no way going to shirk."

Adam Lambert proved his Freddie Mercury credentials in Kiev this weekend (30 June, 2012) as he stepped into the frontman's shoes at a live show in the Ukraine, performing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' as their world tour began. Watch the video below.

Joining Brian May and Roger Taylor on stage, Labmert proved an impressive frontman with an understated performance, backed by projections of Freddie Mercury at his peak - along with iconic clips from the song's original video.

Queen and Lambert performed a two-hour show as part of joint concert with Elton John for the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation. Queen next head to Russia for a show on 3 July and perform three dates at London's Hammersmith Apollo on 11, 12 and 14 July 2012. Tickets are on sale now, for more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.

"We had made up our minds to play in the UK this year," said Roger Taylor earlier this year when the London dates were announced following the cancellation of Sonisphere festival, "so play we will!"

"I can’t wait to be in London to perform with Queen for these incredibly special shows," added Lambert.

Watch the performance of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' below.
