We think 2012 has been a pretty good year for album releases so far but it's fair to say that the big boys tend to come out to play in the second half the year.

So, as much as we have enjoyed the albums from Alt-J, Scissor Sisters, Grimes, Lana Del Rey and more - it is the next six months we're looking ahead to and getting very, very excited.

Of course, albums don't come much bigger than those that Muse make and their sixth studio record 'The 2nd Law' looks very intriguing indeed. Have the Devon trio, as suggested in their album trailer. 'gone dubstep'? We'll have to wait until September to find out.

Flick through the pictures below to see who else will be challenging Muse for the title of biggest rock album of 2012 as well as a host of the most exciting debut albums yet to be released this year.
