After Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991 and the departure of Paul Rodger in 2009, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor had been searching for a star to front Queen and with Adam Lamberts attention grabbing performances on American Idol, there seemed no better person to fill the slot.
Queen first worked with Adam Lambert during the penultimate episode of American Idol in 2009 and more recently at November’s MTV Europe music awards, Lambert will front the band when they play a string of UK dates this summer. He has also recently scored a solo No.1 album in the US.
"We're really excited about it," Taylor says. "Adam... of course he has this unbelievable range, like Freddie (Mercury) had range. Adam can really cover it. He's an extraordinary singer and a real talent. I feel he fits into our sort of theatricality."
