Today, in case you didn't know, in World Goth Day (May 22), and we've decided to get into a suitably gloomy mood and 'celebrate' the occasion.

Donning a pale demeanour, studded wristbands and lots of eyeliner we have waded into the darkest recesses of music history to list our ten favourite goth bands of all time. It might have been a more authentic experience if it hadn't been for the sun streaming through the windows and the 25 degrees in the Gigwise office - but maybe next year...
