Footballers in music videos: the best and worst cameos

Can't they keep it on the pitch? Football stars who want in on the music business

Footballers just can't keep their plans on the pitch, with many match stars harbouring secret desires to be music stars - which would explain the number of music video cameos recently.

Just this week, Emmanuel Frimpong starred on a Lethal Bizzle remix and  Chelsea and Ivory Coast footballer Didier Drogba mande an awkward cameo alongside Julia Channel in her new music video ‘Forever in a Day’

But it's definitely no new phenomenon. Whether it’s a starring role or a blink and you’ll miss in moment, it seems there's no shortage of football stars willing to star in music videos.

From New Order’s classic hit with John Barnes' infamous rapping or this year’s 1xtra radio-hit ‘Can’t Stop We’ by Rio, which features a number of famous faces on and off the pitch - they can be a success. Or it could be as bad as Vinnie Jones starring in Westlife's 'Bop Bop Baby' video. Oh dear indeed.

So, given the recent surge in footballers in music videos, check out the best - and worst footballer music video cameos...
