Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern has been confirmed for this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The actress, who plays the Countess of Grantham in the television period drama, will join rock band Big Country on the main stage.

Isle of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings said of McGovern: "As soon as I found out that Elizabeth could sing, it was a must to invite her to play at the festival. We will roll out the red carpet for Lady Cora."

Headliners for the festival include Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Pearl Jam.

Bruce Springsteen will play the Sunday night of the festival, which takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport from July 22 – 24.

Noel Gallagher, Elbow, Biffy Clyro, The Vaccines, Noah And The Whale, Example and Madness have also been confirmed for the event.
