Happy Mondays Announce Comeback Plans: The Facts You Need To Know

  • The Happy Mondays formed in Little Hulton, Manchester in the early '80s.The band's original line-up was Shaun Ryder on lead vocals, his brother Paul Ryder on bass, lead guitarist Mark Day, keyboardist Paul Davis, and drummer Gary Whelan. Mark "Bez" Berry later joined the band onstage during a live performance after befriending Shaun Ryder and served as a dancer/percussionist. Rowetta Satchell joined the band to provide backing vocals in the early 1990s

So the Happy Mondays have officially announced that they will return in their original full line-up for a series of shows later this year.

The group said in a statement: "The rumours are true... Happy Mondays, the seminal Manchester band who changed musical culture forever has reformed and will be available for select live gigs across 2012."

The Manchester band have reunited twice before but without original members Mark Day, Paul Davis, Rowetta Satchell and Paul Ryder.
