The BRIT Awards 2012: Nominations

A look at the not-so-shocking nominations

This year's Brit Award Nominees were announced last night at The Savoy Hotel in London.

While the majority of the artists nominated could be easily predicted, the amount of awards they were put forward for were not. With Ed Sheeran, Adele, Jessie J, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Bon Iver and Emeli Sande all put forward for multiple awards, this years nominations were dominated by a few acts.

The Mastercard British Album of the Year category is a particularly tough category with Adele, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine and PJ Harvey all nominated for the prestigious award. While Adele would make an easy winner with her album '21' which has spent nineteen weeks at the top of the charts, PJ Harvey is also a massive contender after she bagged The Mercury Music Award last year.

One nominee who needs a closer look is Ed Sheeran. His debut album + (plus) was released in September of last year earning the singer songwriter plenty of hype across the board. Nominated for four Brit Awards at this years ceremony it seems the flame haired star is here to stay.

Turning towards the other acts nominated we look at Laura Marling, The Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines and Kasabian who are also all up for awards at The Brit Awards 2012.
