As with any year that passes by we have had to say goodbye to some hugely influential and great musicians who have shaped the world as we know it.
This year saw the innovator of a generation in Steve Jobs pass away after changing forever the way we listen to music. We also lost the voice of a generation in Amy Winehouse and one of the greatest radio DJs and all round blinging chap named Jimmy Savile.
This is a tribute and obituary to all these artists who passed away in 2011 - each of them heroes in their own right.
Their legacies can never be filled but with new year coming in, it will be interesting to see who steps up to once again change the game.
