Sony have announced that an impeding firmware update will add Vita functionality to the PlayStation 3.
The update, v4.00, enables PS3 owners to use the console as a content hub for the handheld, the PlayStation blog reports.
This will allow them to share games, photos and other content betweent the PS3 and Vita, as well as backing up the Vita's save data onto the console's hard drive.
In addition, users will be able to update the Vita's firmware via the PS3.
PlayStation Vita launches in Japan on December 17, coming to North America and Europe on February 22, 2012.
