With news emerging that Liam Gallagher would be open to making a film about the career of Oasis, allied to the fact that Shane Meadows is to document the comeback of The Stone Roses, Gigwise has decided to look back at the finest film biopics ever made.
Coming up with a list of the ten best is a somewhat tricky task, in that most biopics fall firmly into the 'terrible' category. Even those that have made this list can be called into artistic question. But, without doubt, all of these films have left an indelible mark upon Hollywood, from Gary Oldman breaking through in Sid and Nancy, to a new generation realising the tortured genius of Ian Curtis in Control.
From The Buddy Holly Story, through The Doors, up to Walk the Line, these are our ten favourite music biopics. It's hard to say if a film about the Gallagher brothers would join this list should their story ever be told, but it would sure be interesting finding out.
The greatest music biopics ever made...
