September 27 2011 – The trial of Dr Conrad Murray – the man charged with the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson – begins in Los Angeles.
Members of Jackson's family, including his mother Katherine and father Joseph, attended the first day of the hearing at the Criminal Courts Building, while dozens of the late King Of Pop's fans are holding vigils outside the court.
Dr Murray, who was working with Jackson ahead of his ill-fated comeback gigs in London, has pleaded not guilty.
Fans of the singer are able to follow the trial live on television. If convicted, Dr Murray could face up to four years in prison.
