As this year's Mercury Prize takes place tonight (September 6), Gigwise thought it was time to take a look at past winners of the award.
Widely regarded as one of the most sort after album prizes in the music industry, the Mercury Prize winners are chosen by a panel of experts, including journalists, musicians and other figures.
Primal Scream scooped the first award in 1992 and since then the winners have included Elbow, Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys, as well as a host of relatively unknown artists. – check out the rest below.
