Reading Festival started with a bang on Friday, with an explosive headline set from My Chemical Romance, an outing for Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye, and a dark and stormy set from White Lies.

Further down the lineup, The Naked and Famous, The Vaccines, Mona and The Computers all put in stellar performances to cheer up the muddy crowd, while Foster the People packed out the Festival Republic tent to usher in the sunshine for the afternoon.

You can see photos from the day one of the festival below and more on Gigwise over the weekend. For more information about Reading and all this year's summer festivals, check out the Gigwise Festival Guide.
