As the nominations for this year's Mercury Prize are announced in London today (July 19), Gigwise thought it was time to take a look at past winners of the award.
Widely regarded as one of the most sort after album prizes in the music industry, the Mercury Prize winners are chosen by a panel of experts, including journalists, musicians and other figures.
Primal Scream scooped the first award in 1992 and since then the winners have included Elbow, Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys – check out the rest below.
