V Festival, Beady Eye, Lady Gaga: Biggest News Stories This Week (Mar 5)

Gigwise rounds up the week...

  • Beady Eye First Gig Gets Mixed Reviews - Beady Eye’s first ever live gig received a mixed reception from critics. The band, fronted by Liam Gallagher and containing the rest of Oasis minus his brother Noel, played the first of two shows at Glasgow Barrowlands (March 3). As promised, the group played no Oasis hits, instead choosing to focus on their debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’. The Guardian praised Beady Eye’s energy, but noted that “you can’t always say the same about the songs”.

As another week races on by, it’s time once again for Gigwise to bring you all the news from the last seven days in bite-sized portions - just how you like it.

Things went from good to even better for Trent Reznor. The Nine Inch Nails star collected an Oscar for his soundtrack to The Social Network, while Lady Gaga hit the catwalk in Paris.

Beady Eye also performed their first ever gig, but not before Liam Gallagher had a pop at Radiohead’s new album ‘The King Of Limbs’, while on the festival front, Eminem and Rihanna were confirmed to headline this year’s V Festival, tickets for which sold-out before you could say their names.

You can read more on those stories and more - including stuff on Radiohead, Kylie Minogue, Morrissey, Eminem and the iPad  - in our round-up below.
