Lil' Wayne has temporarily avoided being sentenced for gun possession in order to have dental surgery.
The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was expected to be given a one-year jail term in New York yesterday.
But his sentencing was postponed because his lawyer said ongoing work needed to be completed on the rapper's teeth.
Lil' Wayne, who real name is Dwayne Carter, will now be sentenced on March 2.
Lil' Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession at a court hearing last October.
He was arrested in July 2007 when police found him trying to conceal a .40 calibre semi-automatic loaded handgun on his tour bus.
The rapper said recently that he was “looking forward” to beginning his prison sentence.
