Bruce Springsteen cancelled a concert in Kansas City on Monday following the sudden death of his cousin.
Lenny Sullivan, who was also assistant road manager of the E Street Band, was found dead at a hotel in the city.
Police are investigating the 36-year-old's death but have said it was not suspicious, according to the Associated Press.
A statement on Springsteen's website described Sullivan as “a warm and sensitive person” who was “beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family”.
Springsteen and The E Street Band had been due to perform at the Sprint Center as part of their US tour.
Organisers said the singer hoped to return to Kansas “at the earliest opportunity”. Refunds are available from the point of purchase.
Springsteen's tour is due to continue at Madison Square Garden in New York on Thursday (October 29).
