Damon Albarn is in the running to become an artistic director at the 2012 London Olympics, it's been reported.
The Blur frontman is believed one of a number of individuals in line to oversee some – or all – of the opening ceremony.
According to the Independent newspaper, discussions have already been held between Albarn and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog).
Oscar-nominated film director Stephen Daldry is also thought to be among the contenders. An appointment is expected to be unveiled in the New Year.
Locog has already acknowledged that it is unlikely any city would be able to eclipse last year's opening ceremony in Beijing.
Instead, organisers are looking for a suitable alternative that will reflect well on the city.
