Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan debuted a new song at a tribute concert in Los Angeles on Friday.
Corgan played the track, entitled 'Freak', alongside Strawberry Alarm Clock keyboardist Mark Weitz and Electric Prune's Mark Tulin at a tribute concert to Sky Saxon.
According to Stereogum, Corgan said the song contained “the kind of lyrics I never would have written before I met Sky".

Saxon, also known as Sunlight, was best known as the frontman of 1960s act The Seeds. He died on June 25 at the age of 71.
The Tribute concert at the Echoplex also marked the debut outing for the Smashing Pumpkins' new drummer, 19-year-old Mike Byrne.
Byrne auditioned for the spot after former drummer and the group's only other original member Jimmy Chamberlin quit in February.
