Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has admitted he was left angry after his brother, Liam, told fans to stop clapping at a recent gig in Coventry.
Liam was booed when he asked fans at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday (July 7) to “get your hands down”, adding: “This is Oasis, not ****ing Simply Minds.”
Appearing on BBC Radio 1 this morning, Noel said he found his brother's comments “hilarious but quite undignified”.
“I was quite angry about it later - in the middle of 'Shock of the Lightning', 50,000 people have got their hands in the air and he starts shouting at them to stop clapping,” Noel said.
"I was thinking, 'That's nice - you pay 70 quid for a ticket to be told what to do by the singer'.”
Adopted a joking manner, the guitarist added: "You! Stop enjoying yourself - no clapping in between these songs."
Oasis' gig in Coventry formed part of their UK stadium tour, which arrives this weekend at London's Wembley Stadium.
The three concerts will mark Oasis' first return to the venue since they became the last British band to play at the old Wembley.
