Manic Street Preachers were bestowed with the honour of opening the new Cardiff Library yesterday.
Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore unveiled a plaque embossed with the words 'Libraries Gave Us Power', lyrics lifted from their defining 1996 hit 'A Design For Life'.
In a statement, the band said: “Libraries played an intrinsic role in our youth in Wales and contribute greatly to what we became as a band.
“It is a privilege and an honour to be asked to open this amazing educational addition to the cultural heritage of Cardiff and Wales.”
The band were given a guided tour of the £15million building and each signed the visitor's book.
The trio were also treated to a rendition of 'A Design For Life' by the Cardiff Arma Park All Male Voice Choir.
