Amy Winehouse has been offered the chance to play a music teacher in a movie about a problem school, it's been reported.
The singer has apparently been sent a script by Universal Pictures - but will only be cast if she can overcome her personal problems.
“The movie is a bit like Michelle Pfeiffer’s film Dangerous Minds. Playing a music teacher will allow Amy to use her singing skills,” a source told the Sun newspaper.
“Jonathan Rhys Meyers is being talked about as her co-star.”
Movie bosses are said to have offered Winehouse acting lessons at the Royal Academy of Music Theatre Department in London in order to prepare for the role.
But the source added that the singer would have the opportunity withdrawn unless she could “improve her health and state of mind”.
“You can’t have a teacher looking like a scrawny crack addict. It’s hoped the offer will be an incentive for her."
As previously reported on Gigwise, Winehouse, who is is currently on holiday in the Caribbean, yesterday (January 13th) acknowledged her husband Blake Fielder-Civil's request for a divorce.
