Katy Perry has denied that comments she made at a gig in Los Angeles addressed her recent split from Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy.
US media reports claimed Perry had alluded to the break-up when she introduced one song by saying: "It hurts right now. When you break up with someone you move on.”
In the same speech, the singer, who is reported to have split from McCoy shortly before New Year, also said she was “over it”.
However, writing on her diary blog, Perry said she had made the same introduction to the song before, and criticised the media for exaggerating her comments.
“I don’t give statements about my personal life. The stories read about the things I say introducing some of my songs are merely to explain the forth coming song,” she said.
“I enjoy being myself on stage and that’s what you expect of me. I have made many of the same introductions before… just lately everyone’s dissecting my every word. Understandable.”
Perry added that when she wanted to “share something with the world, the world will know”.
As previously reported on Gigwise, McCoy appeared to allude to the split in a blog post on December 31st.
