Hailed as the unsung heroes of Motown by many, The Funk Brothers were instrumental (excuse the pun!) to the label's success. Alongside talented singers and songwriters, the tight-knit band provided backing instrumentals for Motown's defining hits including The Temptations' 'My Girl', Marvin Gaye's 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' 'Tears Of A Clown'. Between 1959 and 1972 they were the backbone of Motown.
