London Astoria Forced To Cancel Last Ever Party

Organisers behind the closing party at London's Astoria venue have been forced the cancel the event.

The venue, which is being demolished to allow construction of a new Crossrail, was served a 28-day notice last December that will expire before the party on January 20th.

Organisers Mike and Claire McKay, who also promote Manumission in Ibiza, said it was “ridiculous that such an important venue is being demolished for ‘economic progress’.”

They added: "It can never be replaced. We wanted to give The Astoria the send off it deserves, we feel saddened and disappointed by the decision made to pull what could have been an amazing event, especially in these troubled times.”

A host of big names, including Kasabian and the Who, had been linked to the party.

The new Crossrail will provide a train link between East and West London. The Astoria is expected to move to a new venue.
