40 Years Ago: Woodstock Festival is held at a dairy farm in the town of Bethel, New York from August 15-18, 1969. Featuring 32 of the biggest names in rock – including The Who, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, The Band and, of course, Jimi Hendrix – over one million fans braved the rain for a landmark event that has now been entrenched in rock n' roll history.
