Former Auteurs singer Luke Haines has slammed Radiohead – describing the band as the “most heinous of creatures”.
The singer also accuses the group of being “a heavy rock outfit, fright-wig and all" in his forthcoming autobiography, Bad Vibes: Britpop And My Part In Its Downfall.
The book, which has been serialised by The Times newspaper, details Haines' disdain towards the Britpop movement.
The singer, who once claimed to have started the mid-90s scene, says in the book that fellow Britpop stars Oasis were “mindless northern bluff”.
Meanwhile, he describes Blur as “habitual bandwagon jumpers" who presented "a masterclass in media complicity".
Despite previously linking himself to Britpop's origins, Haines appears to suggest in the book that the suicide of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was the ignition.
"Without the abrupt end of Nirvana there would have been no light entertainment battle for Number One between Blur and Oasis," he writes.
