Morrissey - Admittedly loathed by many, as front man of The Smiths Morrissey has been behind some of the best acid-tongued lyrics of the past two decades. He’s said some dubious things in recent times, but musically he’s relevant and important. Although he’d probably refuse a knighthood hands down, but it would be damn hilarious if he was offered.

Ray Davies should be knighted. He is already CBE but stands out above all of the people mentioned in this article as a consistently brilliant songwriter.

all this worry about knighthoods!!Sir Paul Mcartney,Sir Elton John...............Come on! I am a Yank in Kentucky for all ****s sake! I KNOW who deserves the queens honor... people like Ray Davies (first because he NEVER EVER sold out of being ENGLISH) and what a ****in' talent,Eh?? Second would be Roger&David from Floyd,then Pete and Roger, then all the GREAT NEW STUFF like Blur
