  • Great gig - then again, from Simple Minds I wouldn't expect anything less

  • Absolutely outstanding. First saw Simple Minds at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 1986 and they are better now than ever. A great set with some really good early stuff nestling alongside the mid to late eighties classics. Deacon Blue were pdg as the support act too. A fantastic night all round, especially given that SM were on stage for the thick end of 2 hours.

  • Still a great band, and one of the best live acts - but the acoustics in the MEN were poor - similar comments from friends who were seated in other areas, especially in the upper tiers. Probably sounded great on the floor area, where the sound and mixing desks are, but they need to sort that out. JN

  • The sound quality was better for Deacon Blue than the Minds. Jim was straight into the rockstar tricks from the off and was shaking hands with the crowd and kneeling on the floor by the second song, great stuff. Really liked the duet with Mel Gaynor on Chelsea Girl. The likes of Johnny Borrell could learn a thing or two about charisma and stage presence from messrs Kerr and Ross. Had a great night, SM never let me down.

  • What a fantastic performance from the Simple Minds. Lots of high points, but opening with Waterfront got the place rocking from the start. The New Gold Dream album set sounds even better today than 20 odd years ago. Why is this not recognised as a classic album? All in all a truly brilliant live performance.
