A supermarket in Lancashire has apologised after it played an offensive song by Rage Against The Machine near a children's section.
Shoppers complained after an employee in the store's entertainment section played 'Killing In The Name' over the PA system.
The track features the line “**** you I won't do what you tell me” - which is repeated sixteen times.
Nicola Gahagan, 27, who was doing her weekly shop at the Asda supermarket in Fulwood, described the experience as “awful”.
She told the Lancashire Evening Post: "A member of staff must have put the song on himself in the entertainment section – he was nodding his head. It repeats 16 times.
"All they needed to do was switch the stop button. I spoke to another woman who had a child – I would be surprised if other people have not complained.
"If I was watching television I would not have to put up with that.”
In a statement, Asda said they were “very sorry” and admitted that the song shouldn't have been played in the store.
“We're taking this very seriously and doing everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again,” they added.
A local councillor also expressed her disappointment over the broadcast and compared it to the recent radio scandal involving Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross.
Rage Against the Machine have not commented on the matter.
