The Who To Perform At 2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix Opener

The Who will perform at the first race of the 2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix season in Australia, it's been announced.

The band will close race day at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne on March 29th.

Zara Lawless, Acting CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, said the Grand Prix “ can only get bigger and better” with The Who's participation.

Last year, 65,000 watched Kiss close the season-opening Grand Prix.

The announcement comes just days after Britain's Lewis Hamilton became the youngest Formula 1 champion in the sport's history.

Hamilton came from behind to secure the title on the final bend of the Brazilian Grand Prix last Sunday.

The racing car driver was watched by his girlfriend, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger.
