Pink Floyd's David Gilmour Delivers TV Tribute To Rick Wright

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour has paid an emotional television tribute to his former band mate Rick Wright, who died last week.

Gilmour performed 'Remember A Day', which was written by the late keyboardist, during an appearance on Later...with Jools Holland.

Wright, who had been due to appear on the programme, died following a short battle with cancer. He was 65.

Gilmour praised the musician, saying he had “created a sound that glued the whole Pink Floyd thing together".

"He was just a very self-effacing but very talented, lovely chap. We're incredibly sad to have lost him,” he said.

The keyboardist had a significant influence on the instrumentation of some of Pink Floyd's classic albums, including 'Meddle', 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and 'Wish You Were Here'.

Last night's programme, which will air in an extended format on Friday, also featured a performance from Mercury Prize winner's Elbow.
