Glasvegas: 'Metallica Are A Bit Like Golf'

Fresh from being thrashed in the race to number one by Metallica, Glasvegas singer James Allan has compared the rock legends to golf.

The Glaswegian used the analogy by saying that he can't see the point of the rock band, whereas other people can.

He told the Independent: "Metallica are a bit like golf. I can't really see the point but some people obviously can, you know?"

Metallica have held on to number one in the UK charts again this week, while Glasvegas have slipped from two to six with their eponymous debut.

Allan said that the hype of the chart race with Metallica has put them under some pressure, but not compared to when the band first started out.

He added: "Of course the hype creates pressure, but, we've got an album out. The real pressure is when you're starting and you are just desperately trying to be heard. I'm not complaining."

Glasvegas is kinda like a band I’ve never heard of. I guess that’’s why they didn’’t take the top spot ahead of Metallica, which is easily the Greatest Metal band ever, and a top 10 Hard Rock band.

Glasvegas should watch their mouth. theyre new on the block, and sound like your typical indie drivel thats out everywhere these days. metallica have real musical talent. and 100million album sales worldwide and a 27 year career to date speaks volumes. one of the greatest bands of all time

How thick do you have to be to launch an album against the number one selling rock band of all time (yes they did outsell the stones, look it up) and expect to beat them?

Who the heck is Glasvegas, and why would they even be considered any comparision to the all mighty Metallica, as far as the golf reference goes, I consider them as relative to music as Mr. Bean is to acting...

i guess indie crap is like golf , i just cant see the point of it ,wont be long before they slip back into Obscurity none of those band ever last long. its obvious metallica were going to overtake on the album chart becouse theyve got milions of loyal longtime fans waiting for their new releases
